Graduate Programs

The excellent reputation of Canadian and US universities attracts exceptional graduate students from all parts of the world. Prospective applicants should be aware that programs and admission requirements vary amongst universities. CEN can provide guidance for the foundation required for admission into these programs. For applicants interested in Masters and PhD programs, note that due to limited space, conditional admission is not available with the exception of applicants with a proven record of published research and thesis. Admission to graduate programs is a long and complicated process, which requires the approval of a Research Committee that meets on scheduled dates to review applications.

GRADUATE CERTIFICATES & DIPLOMAS

Post-grad programs such as graduate certificates and diplomas are one year in length and are offered in all major fields of study. Admission requirements are usually less competitive with more relaxed admission requirements than master's degree programs. Successful graduates of a Post-grad program are eligible to apply for a Post-Graduate Work Permit for up to 3 years.

Admission Requirements
-Completion a Bachelor’s Degree
-English Proficiency: TOEFL IBT 80 or IELTS 6.5
-Resume (CV) with references

Applicants who do not meet the English proficiency (TOEFL/IELTS) requirement may be able to apply for conditional acceptance/admission to a post-grad diploma program.

Start Dates
Programs start every year in September, and some programs offer start dates in January as well.

Tuition:
$10,500 to $14,000

MASTER OF ARTS (MA) & MASTER OF SCIENCE (MSC)

Master's degree programs are two year (or more) graduate programs that provide specialization in various disciplines; Students advance their critical, analytical, and or research skills to serve various industries.

Master of Arts (MA) specialties include (but not limited to): Economics, Psychology, English, and Communications. Master of Science (MSc) programs include (but not limited to): Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Computer Science (Information Technology) and Mathematics.

Admission Requirements
-Bachelor’s Degree, with good standing (72% - 80% +)
-English Proficiency: TOEFL IBT 80-100 or IELTS 6.5-7.0
-Resume (CV) with references
-Recommendation letters


Applicants who do not meet the English proficiency (TOEFL) requirement can enrol in an intensive English program to upgrade their level of English, before applying for a master's degree. Please note that due to the limited seats available, conditional admission is not likely available for a master's degree program.

Start Dates
Programs start every year in September and a few programs offer limited start dates in January and May as well.

Tuition:
$8,000 to $20,000 per year

MASTER OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION (MBA)

Today’s global business environment demands individuals who have strong communication skills and an ability to manage and operate across cultures. The MBA program provides students with advanced management education and the ability to integrate knowledge into the context of a global economy. The MBA is offered as an intensive 1 year or 2 year full-time program, or as a 2-3 years part-time program.

Admission Requirements
-Bachelor’s Degree, with good standing (75% +)
-English Proficiency: TOEFL IBT 80-100, IELTS 6.5-7.0, or CELPIP Academic 4 or higher
-GMAT score of 550 (600+ preferred)
-Resume (CV) with references
-2 years (or more) of professional work experience
-Recommendation letters
-Other requirements may apply depending on the university


Applicants who do not meet the English proficiency (TOEFL) requirement can enrol in an intensive English program to upgrade their level of English, before applying for a master's degree. Please note that due to the limited seats available, conditional admission is not likely available for a master's degree program.

Those wishing to apply for an MBA who do not meet all of the above admission requirements are encouraged to consider applying for a post-grad program instead of an MBA. Successful graduates of a post-grad program are eligible to apply for a Canadian working visa for 1-3 years.

PROFESSIONAL GRADUATE PROGRAMS (MA, MSc, MEng, MEd)

Professional graduate degree programs can be awarded as Master of Arts, Master of Science , Master of Engineering or Master of Education.

Professional Disciplines include (but not limited to): Applied Sciences, Engineering (Mechanical, Computer, Electrical, Structural, Environmental), Dietetics, Education, Health Sciences and Clinical Psychology.

Each specialty has specific admission requirements. These programs start every year in September with no flexibility in start dates.

Admission Requirements
-Bachelor’s Degree, with good standing (80% +)
-English Proficiency: TOEFL IBT 80-100, IELTS 6.5-7.0, or CELPIP Academic 4 or higher
-GRE score (required by some universities)
-Resume (CV) with references
-Recommendation letters

MEDICINE (MD, Specialty, Fellowship) & DENTISTRY (DDS, Orthodontics)

In Canada and the USA, in order to apply for medical or dentistry programs students must usually first meet the following minimum requirements:

- Bachelor's (of Science) degree with good standing (GPA over 85%, varies based on university)
- Undergraduate course completion in biology, chemistry, organic chemistry, and more
- MCAT/DAT exam completion with a high score


High school graduates who are interested in a career in medicine or dentistry are encouraged to apply for a bachelor's of science degree program.

Due to extremely limited space and liabilities, international applicants to residency, fellowship and dentistry specialty programs, have very slim chances of gaining acceptance unless they graduated with an MD or DDS from a Canadian or US university.

LAW (LLB, JD, M.Law)

In Canada and USA, in order to apply for law school students must usually first meet the following minimum requirements:

- bachelor's degree with an average (GPA) of 80% or higher
- LSAT exam completion with a high score


High school graduates who are interested in a career in law are encouraged to begin with step 1, a bachelor's degree program or consider a diploma in paralegal studies.

PHD

A PhD program is for distinguished, aspiring scholars who have completed a 2-year Master's Degree and wish to pursue a career in academia and research. There are very few seats available for PhD applicants; as such, placement of PhD candidates is extremely competitive and difficult.

In order to apply for a PhD Program, applicants must meet all of the following requirements:

-Bachelor’s Degree, with good standing in relevant discipline
-Research based Master’s Degree (GPA over 85%, varies based on university and other applicants’ credentials) with a publishable thesis
-English Proficiency: TOEFL IBT 90-100, IELTS 7.0-7.5, or CELPIP Academic 4 or higher
-Resume (CV) with references
-Recommendation letters
Other requirements may apply, depending on the university and program.

CDN $7,500 per year (or higher)
